Claro Ramirez


Claro Ramirez is a multimedia visual artist and curator. He is the Artistic Director of the independent platform Back to Square Juan. He apprenticed with National Artist Cesar Legaspi in the mid-1980s. Ramirez was co-curator for the Philippines in the 2013 Singapore Biennale, was Artistic Director for exhibitions and new media projects at Lopez Museum (2005–2013) during which he was also a consultant for art direction for projects by the Japan Foundation and Goethe Institut. He co-curated the Philippine component of 'Nothing to Declare' (the Philippines, 2011–2012), was one of six co-curators for 'Riverscapes IN FLUX' (Southeast Asia, 2012), and was one of 12 artists/curators invited for the Video Art Festival by Art Video Exchange-Norway and Small Projects (2013).
